Assistant Soccer Coach
Job Summary
Free Play for Kids is searching for part-time Assistant Soccer Coaches to assist one of our soccer teams. If you’re a top-level coach or a top-level player looking to grow into a coaching role, we want you as one of our soccer coaches.
In the role of an Assistant Soccer Coach within our team, you will operate under the guidance of a Head Soccer Coach. Your focus will be to assist the head coach in executing practice plans designed to not only provide engaging sessions that emphasize the fundamental aspects of basketball but also showcase you as a great leader and mentor.
Education & Qualifications
Working towards or completed, a degree or diploma in Physical Education, Sport, and Recreation, Kinesiology, Education, Sociology, Psychology, Early Childhood Education, or equivalent from a recognized post-secondary institution.
Experience coaching youth sport teams and/or extensive playing experience.
Standard First Aid Certification and CPR training or ability to obtain quickly.
Clear up-to-date criminal and vulnerable sector check.
Valid certifications in coaching soccer are considered an asset.
Experience with technology such as Google Meet and Connecteam apps is considered an asset.
Responsibilities
Assisting in leading practices, games, drills, and with the ultimate goal of creating safe, accessible, and inclusive spaces for kids to play, belong, and grow.
Working with youth between the ages of 10-17 by facilitating programming in collaboration with other team members.
Training the youth to play soccer and compete in leagues and tournaments.
Relating to youth from diverse communities and acting as a mentor and role model for kids in the program.
Modeling key organization values through interactions with all internal and external partners and team members.
Assists the Program Manager/Coordinator with community partnerships, equipment inventory & management, and player identification and recruitment.
Participating in work assignments arising from special events, special projects, or overall program initiatives.
Completing additional training and certifications as required through the Free Play training program, such as the Safe Sport and Understanding the Rules of Two.
Understanding the power of sport as a tool for social good.
Position Conditions
This is a part-time paid position of approximately 6 - 12 hours per week.
Hours of work are determined by program schedule.
Job is performed in schools and recreation settings, but work settings may vary depending on projects
